Wildlife-Friendly Landscape Management Professional Course

The course can be taken at your own pace between September 14-December 14, 2026. It is completely asynchronous, so not tied to any times or days of the week. There are 8 modules, which average about 48 minutes of lecture content per module, broken into three smaller segments. Each module also has a 'homework' assignment associated with it, which depending on the module, I'd estimate will take between 30 min to 2 hours to complete. So, you're looking at 6.5 hours of lecture material plus about 6 hours of activities (12-13 hours of your time) to complete the course. You'll have access to the entire course beginning on September 14, but gain access to each module as you complete the prior one.

If designed and maintained appropriately, urban landscapes can be beautiful, functional, and welcoming to wildlife. This eight-module online course explores how thoughtful landscape management can support biodiversity while meeting the needs of people and maintaining healthy, attractive spaces. Through engaging lectures and hands-on experiential activities, you’ll explore pollinator ecology and conservation, integrated pest and pollinator management, wildlife-friendly practices, and the human values and behaviors that shape our landscapes.

This course, tailored to green industry professionals and pest management professionals, will provide practical knowledge and new perspectives on the plants, insects, wildlife, and management decisions that shape the places where we live and work. Students can earn a certificate of completion and Knowledge Badge UF IFAS micro-credential upon completion of this course.
